Digital Twin Component – Glaciers
Project Description
The ESA Digital Twin Component for Glaciers (DTC Glaciers) aims to develop an open digital twin of mountain glaciers by integrating Earth Observation data, in-situ measurements, and advanced models to provide a dynamic representation of glacier change.
The project will support the continuous monitoring of glacier mass balance and runoff, including uncertainty estimates, to improve understanding of glacier change and support applications such as water resource management, hydropower, and flood risk assessment. Earthwave contributes post-processed CryoTEMPO-EOLIS data and API tools for generating monthly elevation-change time series, as well as the preparation and design of GeoZarr data cubes for integration into the digital twin.
