5D Antarctica

Project Description

The ESA Dynamic 5D Antarctica project aims to improve our understanding of changes in the Antarctic coastal ice sheet and ice shelves by developing new Earth Observation datasets and using them to investigate the physical processes driving their evolution.

The project will address the current lack of continuous, widespread satellite observations of the Antarctic coastal margin by producing datasets for key glaciological parameters, including ice velocity, surface melting, basal melt rates, and elevation change. It will also improve the methods used to derive these observations and combine datasets from different project partners to provide a more complete picture of Antarctic ice dynamics and its future evolution.
