Earthwave’s Fair Working Policy
The Fair Work First framework was developed by the Scottish Government to promote fair and inclusive workplaces across Scotland. It aims to encourage employers to adopt fair work practices that prioritise employee well-being, equality, and productivity. In response to this, the following sets out Earthwave’s actions that it has in place to achieve this agenda.
Commitment to fair work.
As an SME, we are committed to promoting fair work practices within our organisation. We recognise the importance of creating a positive work environment that values and respects our employees.
Leadership and engagement.
We lead by example and demonstrate our commitment to fair work by implementing the following actions:
- Engaging with our employees to understand their needs and concerns. This is in the form of open dialogue as well as scheduled one-to-ones between employees and their line managers, and both confidential surveys, and requests for feedback.
- Encouraging open and transparent communication between management and employees.
- Providing opportunities for employee input and participation in decision-making processes. We will do this by consulting with the team on business decisions and changes, but also in our work by empowering employees at all levels to make decisions and take action; providing them with the necessary authority, resources, and support to make informed decisions and see them through to completion.
- Fostering a culture of respect, diversity, and inclusion within our organisation, in the way that we communicate and support each other.
Pay and reward.
We ensure fair and equitable pay and reward systems by:
- Conducting annual reviews of our pay structures, where we strive for fairness, and that they are free from discrimination.
- Providing competitive salaries and benefits that reflect the skills, experience, and contributions of our employees.
- Ensuring that our pay practices comply with relevant legislation and promote equal pay for equal work.
Working conditions.
We strive to create a healthy and safe working environment by:
- Complying with health and safety regulations and providing appropriate training and resources to ensure the well-being of our employees.
- Promoting work-life balance and flexible working arrangements where feasible.
- Offering opportunities for professional development and career progression.
Employee engagement and development.
We invest in our employees’ growth and development by:
- Providing regular feedback and mentoring to support their professional growth.
- Offering training and development opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge, as part of the annual performance review, but also through the year as needs or opportunities are identified.
- Recognising and rewarding employee achievements and contributions.
Equality and diversity.
We promote equality and diversity within our organisation by:
- Ensuring that our recruitment and selection processes are fair, transparent, and free from bias.
- Creating an inclusive and supportive work environment that values diversity and respects individuals’ differences.
- Implementing policies and practices that prevent discrimination and promote equal opportunities for all employees.
Partnerships and collaboration.
We collaborate with external stakeholders, and the wider community within which we are a part of, to promote fair work practices and share best practices.
Annual review.
As with all Earthwave policies, this will be reviewed on an annual basis, at which time Earthwave will ensure that this is up-to-date and reflective of our practices.
